Terms & Conditions

LopileTech Terms and Conditions: Solar Panel, Inverter, and Battery Installations This document outlines the terms and conditions applicable to quotations and installations of solar panels, inverters, and batteries provided by LopileTech. 1. Basis of Standard Quotation: Our standard quotation is based on the inverter, battery, AC Changeover unit, and DC distribution board being installed within 5 meters of the main Distribution Board (DB). The installation assumes these components will be located within the same building/roof structure as the main DB (e.g., in a garage). This quotation excludes: Splitting of an existing sub-distribution board (if applicable). Running a dedicated supply wire for essential loads from the main DB to a sub-distribution board, unless explicitly stated. 2. Exclusions from Standard Installation (Costs are for the Customer's account if required): 2.1. Municipal/Utility Applications: Any application fees or processes required to connect the system to the customer’s local municipal council or utility provider (e.g., SSEG Application) are the Customer’s responsibility and expense. 2.2. Extended Cable Runs: Additional cable costs if the system components need to be installed more than 5 meters from the main DB. 2.3. Major Circuit Separation: Extensive electrical circuit separation beyond what is explicitly included in the quotation. 2.4. Civil Works: No allowance is made for excavations, trenching, backfill, or surface replacement (e.g., paving, tiling) unless specifically itemised in the quotation. 3. Potential Additional Costs (Quoted Separately if Applicable/Required): This section outlines items that may be necessary for certain installations and will be quoted separately if required. 3.1. Lightning Protection System: A risk assessment for lightning protection may be conducted (this is often area-dependent), and any required system will be an additional cost. 3.2. Roof Structural Integrity (A19 Certificate): If required by local regulations or assessment, a roof structural integrity certificate (e.g., A19 certificate) by a qualified roofing engineer will be an additional cost. 3.3. Wind Loading Capacity: The roof must be suitable for a minimum of 25m/s wind loading. Any structural work required to meet this standard is an additional cost. 3.4. Multiple Roof Azimuths/Orientations: Installations requiring mounting on multiple roof faces (azimuths) may incur additional costs due to increased complexity and mounting hardware. This should be addressed at the design stage. 3.5. Specialized Roof Types: * Installations on thatch roofs are typically excluded from standard pricing and will require a specialized assessment and quotation. * Installations on slate, quarry tile, and other special roof types will be costed separately. 3.6. Extended DC Cable Runs: The standard quotation typically covers DC cable runs up to 25 meters within the same building. Runs exceeding this length, or installations requiring cabling between separate buildings (including any necessary trenching), will incur additional costs. 3.7. PV Panel Mounting System: The type of PV panel mounting system will be dependent on the roof type (e.g., tile, clip lock, corrugated, IBR). The standard quotation covers typical mounting on these roof types. 4. Important Customer and Installation Requirements: 4.1. Existing Certificate of Compliance (CoC): * Customers are required to provide a current and valid CoC for their existing electrical installation. The LopileTech installer will then issue a supplementary CoC covering the new solar installation work. * If there is no current and valid CoC for the premises, or if the existing installation is found to be non-compliant, LopileTech will provide a quotation for any necessary remedial work to enable the issuance of a valid CoC. These costs are the responsibility of the customer. 4.2. Suitable Installation Environment: The System components (inverter, batteries, etc.) may not be installed in environmentally unsuitable areas (e.g., locations with excessive heat, dust, moisture, corrosive elements, or other conditions defined as unsuitable by SANS 10142-1 or manufacturer specifications). Installation in areas like bathrooms is not permitted. 4.3. Mounting Surfaces: Electrical components must be mounted on walls or surfaces suitable to carry their weight and operational loads. (Note: Standard drywall or unreinforced wooden walls are generally not suitable without appropriate reinforcement, which may be an additional cost). 4.4. Wi-Fi Connectivity for Monitoring: * Reliable Wi-Fi connectivity must be readily available at the designated installation point for system monitoring features. * If relying on an existing Wi-Fi signal, it must be strong and stable enough at the component location to ensure reliable data transmission. * LopileTech does not provide Wi-Fi extenders or network troubleshooting as part of the standard installation for monitoring purposes. 4.5. Authorized Installation: The System must be installed by a LopileTech approved/certified installer or a qualified and LopileTech-authorised electrical contractor. Self-installations are not permitted and will void warranties.
